Have you received a call from someone alleging to be your bank?
They tell you your cards have been blocked, or they can help you with net banking details, you just simply tell them your bank details and that’s where it all starts.
Well, you’re not alone. Recently, residents are receiving a spate of fraud calls, whereby scammers have been duping them to believing the bank is calling them, and then stealing their details and cash.
Sharing her story with Lovin Dubai, Ayah Alatasi mentioned that she received a call from 0503892539, claiming to be one of Dubai’s popular banks. Mentioning a piece of information only her bank knew, they persuaded her to update her information. Unfortunately, Ayah did so and they started stealing money from her account. They stopped when her card started to decline due to insufficient funds.
Ayah immediately reported the incident to her bank and the Dubai Police. She shared her story to raise awareness about the issue and warn others about such fraudulent numbers.
If you are scammed, report the crime immediately to Police. Email scams can also be reported immediately within the email platform. Besides, always be vigilant! Always check the email of the sender. If the domain looks dodgy, chances are, it’s not a genuine email. A closer look at the scam within our company shows the email domain was not a company email.
