There comes a time in the UAE (and all over the Gulf) when you’d see car tyres melting and cars catching on fire, particularly during the summer. Yes folks, this actually happens!
It’s an odd phenomenon but definitely not an uncommon occurrence. To make sure these don’t happen to you this summer, Continental has some tips you should follow:

San Jose University conducted a study on the temperature inside a closed car and found that a basic grey interior can rise up to 62˚C in an hour when it’s 38˚C outside! Yep, the inside could get a lot warmer than the outside and that could seriously damage your interior resulting in a cracked dashboard and decaying seat covers.
Tinted windows will help keep some of that heat outside!

Your battery can get damaged during the summer months, why? Because batteries are powered by water and acid. Excessive exposure to heat can lead the water to evaporate, leaving lead plates exposed. So be sure to check the water levels in your radiator regularly.

When it’s particularly hot outside, avoid leaving your car running because this will cause severe engine problems. Be sure to change the engine oil at regular intervals.
P.S. If you need to park under the sun, be sure to use a windshield cover, it’s a true lifesaver and the steering wheel won’t become too hot to touch.
Lastly, the high temperatures can dry out the rubber of the tyres, making them weaker and prone to tearing. Not only that, but the constant exposure to heat can cause the tyres to blow out or increase the pressure. Be sure to check the air pressure every now and then and keep them cool!
