Dubai’s RTA Is All Set For A Major AED332 Million Upgrade On Umm Suqeim Street
Dubai’s RTA gears up with a Dhs332 million upgrade for Umm Suqeim Street!
Increased traffic flow may soon be witnessed on Umm Suqeim Street in Dubai, as plans for a Dhs332 million upgrade are in progress. As RTA has announced in a statement, that a contract has been granted for the enhancement of Umm Suqeim Street in a 4.6 km project, stretching from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
The improvements align with directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, aiming to enhance the road infrastructure to keep pace with Dubai’s continuous development, meet urban and population demands, and maintain seamless traffic flow.

The Umm Suqeim Street Improvement will be running from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. This initiative involves upgrading the intersection near Kings School along Al Barsha South Street, including the construction of an 800-meter tunnel boasting four lanes in each direction on Umm Suqeim Street. Additionally, a signal-controlled surface intersection is part of the project.
“This project aims to improve the connectivity of four major traffic corridors in Dubai: Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road. It will enhance the capacity of the streets to accommodate up to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, ensure a smoother flow of traffic, and significantly reduce the travel time between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Khail Road from 9.7 to 3.8 minutes. This project will serve various residential and developments areas, including Al Barsha South 1, 2, and 3, and Dubai Hills. These areas have an estimated population of about two million people,” explained Al Tayer.
