HH Sheikh Mohammed Extends Deepest Condolences After India Train Collision Claimed Almost 300 Lives
At least 288 people were killed and 900 were injured in India’s worst rail crash in over two decades, officials said on Saturday
The collision involved two passenger trains and a goods train in Balasore city in Odisha state, according to CNN on Friday, June 2.
The passenger Coromandel Express rammed into a goods train on Friday causing 10 – 12 carriages to derail. A third train, the Bangalore -Superfast Express, was also involved in the aftermath and two of its carriages derailed.
Preliminary investigation suggests a signal error caused the train crash; however, it’s been noted many times that there is a serious problem with the tracks being corroded.
