It’s been a rainy past couple of days across the UAE with lightning and strong winds. People still managed to celebrate the new year without getting completely soaked but today is somewhat of a different story.
Events are being cancelled and entire venues are shutting their doors in Dubai today.
Global Village stated that due to the high winds according to the National Center of Meteorology, it will remain closed to assure the safety of visitors. It will be welcoming Dubai peeps from tomorrow, January 3rd from 4pm.

Dubai Astronomy tweeted that the Quadrantids Meteor Shower event at Al Qudra Desert will not be taking place on January 3 due to the reported cloudy and rainy weather.
ANNOUNCEMENT: We regret to inform you all that the Quadrantids Meteor Shower event at Al Qudra Desert on January 3rd, 2022 is canceled because of reported cloudy and rainy weather conditions on the day of the event.

The German Pavilion has already announced that it “has to remain closed today, 2 January 2022, due to the current bad weather conditions.”
The USA Pavilion was closed yesterday for the same reason. Many other pavilions were closed for a number of reasons and the Malaysian and Japan.

The fireworks are ongoing until January 30 in places like Dubai Frame, La Mer, The Beach JBR, and The Pointe. So if you were hoping for fireworks to brighten up the sky, it won’t happen today.
