The UAE Is Banning The Travel Of Citizens To Lebanon Amid Unrest At Refugee Camp

The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is advising Emirati citizens against travelling to Lebanon in light of the current situation in the country.

The travel ban is aimed to protect the well-being of UAE citizens. The Ministry released the advisory today. In the event of emergencies, UAE citizens are urged to contact the designated hotline, 0097180024.

Similar bans were issued by Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain.

These countries have urged their citizens to exercise caution as clashes began in the Ain El Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon

There are 12 Palestinian camps in Lebanon and Ain El Hilweh is one of the most significant as it accommodates roughly 80,000 of the estimated 250,000 Palestinian refugees in the country, according to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees.

Clashes in the camp began on July 29 and resulted in the death of at least 13.
