There Is A Ramadan Night Run Taking Place At Al Qudra Lakes Next Week And All Levels Can Take Part

Evening workouts are very common for those fasting during ramadan. Many break their fast and do a light run or a swim at the same time, and have iftar afterwards, while others have iftar at sun set, usually around 7.10pm and then do a workout around two hours after.

The NAS Sports events have been taking place for the past two weeks, and there is also a race taking place next Wednesday, The Desert Night Run at Al Marmoom.

The Al Marmoon nature reserve is an idyllic setting for a run

Spanning more than 40 hectares of shrub land, the reserve is home to more than 204 species of native birds, 158 species of migratory birds, and 10km of lakes, encompassing the Al Qudra Lakes.

There are three different distances for all to take part

I ran this event when it was on for the first time in April, it was two 5k loops in the morning, and it was so nice running around the lakes.

This time the loop has been made a bit shorter, 2.5k, so the 10k runners will go around four times, twice for the 5k runners and once for those participating in the 2.5km run.

Registration is open until the Sunday, June 3 and it’s pretty affordable

Here are the details for the events, you can register on Hopasports.

  • 10km – AED90 – AED125 – 8pm start time
  • 5km – AED90 – AED125 – 8.05pm start time
  • 2.5km – AED50 – AED90 – 8.05pm start time

Race pack collection the evening of the event from 7-7.50pm.
