A UAE TV Personality’s Lesson: Embrace Boundaries & Contracts In Business

Avatar

In a world where business and personal relationships often blur, Sara Al Madani, the UAE’s renowned entrepreneur, emphasizes the significance of boundaries, drawing from her personal experiences. During a recent episode of the Dream Out Loud podcast with Morgan Nelson, Sara candidly shared her journey into entrepreneurship and the lesson she learned about the importance of boundaries.

A decade ago, Sara ventured into a business with her best friend, a relationship built on a decade of trust and camaraderie. At that time, she was firmly of the belief that good people inherently trust one another. Contracts? Unnecessary. Boundaries? Why bother. The thought of a contract never crossed her mind because, in her eyes, their friendship was built on an unshakable foundation of honesty and integrity.

However, life had a different plan. Sara then recounted how her best friend took all the money and left her with nothing

The traumatic experience served as a sobering reminder that boundaries aren’t about doubting or questioning the people you love. Instead, they are about respecting yourself and your personal limits.

As Sara aptly puts it, “Boundaries mean that I can love you and love myself at the same time.” They don’t undermine the essence of trust, but rather complement it.

One of the essential takeaways from Sara’s journey is the role of boundaries in fostering healthy relationships, both in personal life and in business

Setting clear boundaries is not a sign of distrust; it’s a way to safeguard your own well-being while simultaneously nurturing the trust you have in others.

Another reminder is that of contracts in the business world. In her story, contracts play a dual role. They are both a form of respect and a way to acknowledge the inherent trust between individuals while guarding against unforeseen circumstances.

Sara’s message is clear, “Boundaries are beautiful and healthy. And if somebody doesn’t accept your boundaries, they’re not meant for you.”

In the business world, boundaries and contracts go hand in hand. They are the cornerstones of successful partnerships, reminding us that, while trust is essential, so are respect and clarity in every endeavor

So, set your boundaries and ink those contracts, for they are the anchors that keep relationships strong.
