Bags That Require Special Manual Handling Will Now Be Charged A Fee At DXB Airport

If you find yourself traveling out of Dubai any time soon, make sure you pack some extra cash because a new fee has been introduced by Dnata at Dubai International Airport. 

So if your luggage doesn’t conform to standard size and weight and requires additional or special handling then expect to pay the extra fee. 

However, this new fee only applies to any baggages that do not follow standard airport sizes and require additional manual handling.

Dnata provides all the ground-handling service for airlines operating at Dubai International Airport and the fee will depend on the contract between the airline and the company.  

One Airline has already applied the new fee – Air India is charging AED45 for handling baggages classified as “out of gauge” – packages that are too large, light, heavy, fragile or have a flat surface will require the additional fee. 

The packages either damage or slow down the baggage system, which is one reason behind the new fee.
