A Proud Moment For Dubai As Expat Women Knit Their Way Into Breaking The Guinness World Record

Avatar

On Friday 13, Dubai witnessed a truly PROUD moment when more than 500 expat women in the Emirate came together in Dubai Sports City to break the Guinness world record for the largest ever knitted blanket.

Making the impossible possible, these inspirational women have set an example of kindness and compassion for generations to come.

Because once all Guinness certifications are completed the 3300 handknitted blankets will be distributed to underprivileged orphanages and refugee camps all around the world well in time for winter.

The knitathon project was initially launched by eight women in April 2018 and since gained massive momentum. Knitathon started out as an aim to knit blankets for underprivileged children but soon this movement was joined by many more individuals leading to a massive record-breaker blanket!

The team consisting of over 500 people of 27 nationalities broke the Guinness world record for the world’s largest knitted blanket in the non-crochet category

This EPIC blanket is 18 months worth of hard work and sweat by every contributor! The ladies with the help their famjam made this possible.

Cute little hearts were sewn on each of the blankets alone, then the blankets were stitched together to create one massive version! Which then broke another record of the world’s largest display of knitted hearts
