Social media users, including Dubai residents, are divided on the recent scandal involving Priyanka Chopra and the recent tensions between India-Pakistan.
UNICEF Ambassador for peace, actress and singer Priyanka Chopra was taken aback when a Pakistani girl asked a question during an event in Los Angeles.
The Indian actress was called a ‘hypocrite’ by Ayesha Malik, who asked why she ‘encourages nuclear war against Pakistan’- based on a tweet from Chopra saying ‘Jai Hind’ (Long Live India).
The Pakistani girl made mention the millions of Pakistanis who have supported her Bollywood career.
Priyanka Chopra is incredibly condescending & arrogant: “girl, don’t yell, don’t embarrass yourself”.
Also, imagine responding with “I have Pakistani friends” after being asked about supporting war between the two nuclear powers. https://t.co/bLk8005dK6

Just cuz @priyankachopra is a celebrity doesn’t mean she can anything she wants, she must remember she is a UNICEF ambassador not some public speaker

@priyankachopra has done a great job being an @UNICEF ambassador, and her work in Bangladesh, Ethiopia are examples where you can see that she is indeed fit for this position and she is great at what she does. You can't simply request to remove anyone, just cuz u feel like it.

The way the girl was snatched from her disagreement and mic is really negatively astounding for me, letting someone not speak what they want to is not right in a democratic state. Thus, Racism shouldn’t be labelled as patriotism girl learn the differences. #PriyankaChopra

The timing for the Priyanka Chopra comment and the public’s response comes amid rising tensions between the two nations, India and Pakistan.
Reports say that Kashmir has been the pivotal conflict between the two countries.
