We might be biased, but Dubai Metro has to be one of the greatest public transport services. Clean, reliable and super efficient there isn’t much we have to say against it (apart from the rush-hour press, but come on, nowhere’s perfect).
But to make sure things stay in tip-top shape, there are a couple of rules you need to be aware of when using the public service.
There are stickers placed in each car, but this little reminder won’t hurt. Nil by mouth, once you enter the moving train.
Don’t worry, you’re welcome to catch a quick snooze while you’re in transit (phew!) but sleeping in the waiting areas of the Metro stations is not allowed.
No sharing cards.Getting caught out sharing personalised NoL cards will result in a fine. If you’re stuck without a ticket, your best option it to purchase a day pass.
If you tempted enough to hop in, you may as well just purchase a Gold ticket. Larger, more comfortable seating awaits, and the Gold tickets are a lot cheaper than the resulting fine if you’re caught.
This is an easy mistake to make so best be aware of it. All Metros have two women’s carriages, which are clearly marked. Take cake when entering the Metro that you entering the right carriage.
Sounding the emergency features on the Metro is treated as a serious incidence. Hence a large fine to deter any temptation.
