Aviation authorities in Pakistan have issued a NOTAM (A Notice to Airmen) that Pakistan will now reopen its airspace for all type of civil traffic with immediate effect.

Earlier this year on February 27, the restriction in the airspace was imposed by Pakistan because of the tensions with India at the time. The conflict between the neighbouring countries was triggered when Pakistan-based militant group attacked 40 paramilitary police in the Indian governed Kashmir.

Because the Pakistani airspace is important for many aviation routes, the country taking the decision to close off its airspace led to a number of commercial and cargo flights facing massive losses because of the re-routing and merging costs, as reported by The Economic Times.

The costs of flights being rescheduled and even suspended because of the air restrictions caused a lot of harm to foreign and more specifically Indian airlines.

The banning of the airspace also led to increased flight times, some of which went increased up-to 90 minutes
