90% Of UAE Residents Are Seriously Deficient In The Vitamin That Comes From SUNLIGHT

Avatar

You would think in a country with 24/7 sunshine, access to Vitamin D wouldn’t be a problem? Well apparently, it is.

90% of people living in Dubai are Vitamin D deficient

That means we’re deficient in sunlight people! This is according to the KhaleejTimes and data from the International Osteoporosis Federation (IOF) which shows deficiency is particularly high in adolescent females.

Just because we live in a sunny country, doesn’t mean people get a lot of sun exposure

Lack of exposure to the sun is blamed for the high deficiency. And 90% of our Vitamin D intake is based on our reaction to UV rays.

Vitamin D is an important requirement for a healthy body

And a deficiency could be a factor for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension and depression

So get out into the sun more often people!

But keep it in mind to wear a high factor, this helps prevent skin diseases AND wrinkles.

Need some inspiration? Here are five great hikes you can do (that are outdoors, obviously).
