Taxi Users In Dubai Are Facing Long Waiting Times Amid An Influx Of Worldcup Tourists

Avatar

It’s that time of the year again when the city gets busier, and hailing taxis become an absolute challenge.

We are seeing Dubai waking up from its summer slumber and stepping into peak tourist season as the winter months descend upon the city. From the F1 races and concerts happening citywide to the FIFA World Cup 2022 crowd and festive markets, Dubai is clearly seeing an influx of tourists: causing the demand for cabs (as well as the waiting time) to shoot right up.

Lovin Dubai readers sent in screenshots of their attempts to hail a Hala Taxi via Careem, to which they were made to wait for nearly 30+ minutes (Careem is a popular app that provides government cabs in the city with a digital arm to help them become more accessible to the community).

We have worked with the RTA and our taxi partners to roll out additional taxis and Captains”

Speaking exclusively to Lovin Dubai, a Hala Taxi spokesperson clarified that;

“We are aware that the city is busy and that the demand for Hala taxis is much higher. Over the past few months, we have worked with the RTA and our taxi partners to roll out additional taxis and Captains, identifying and being present in high-density locations to absorb the demand as much as possible and have also launched Hala Home – our Captain Support centre to ensure that solutions to technical issues faced by our Captains are expedited.

The ETAs for Hala taxis are adapted to the accelerated growth that we have seen in the city. We are continuously rolling out operational solutions to cater to this high demand and have amplified our care team’s focus to ensure that customer complaints that are brought to us are handled with utmost care and urgency.”

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently revealed a public transport masterplan to help keep Dubai traffic flowing this football season

This elaborate plan to help manage the mobility around football fan zones throughout the month includes the addition of 700+ new taxis to the Hala fleet.
