The UAE Is Withdrawing Selected Eggs Off Shelves After A Salmonella Scare

A farm in the US has been banned from importing eggs into the UAE due to salmonella contamination. 

North Carolina’s Rose Acre farm has been issued with a ban for the importation of their eggs by The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment

The Ministry also issued a health advisory withdrawal stating that the eggs are contaminated with salmonella and several measures have been taken to withdraw the eggs from shelves across the UAE.

“The Ministry of Climate Change has taken a number of precautionary measures to import table eggs from the US farm of Rose Acre Farms in North Carolina. The Ministry has prepared a list of table eggs produced from the US farm and issued Circulate the ID printed on the food card to the competent local authorities. The ministry calls on the public to ensure that the American table eggs are not eaten in the case of the farm. 
Coming from its care to ensure healthy and safe food to consumers in the UAE, #MoCCAEmade a series of precautionary measures to pull and retrieve eggs by Rose Acre Farm’s Hyde County farm, located in the state of North Carolina in USA. The ministry has also issued a circular on adding a tag on the product to the concerned local authorities.”

What is Salmonella?

Salmonella is a bacteria that grows in the gut and can cause food poisoning and at rare occasions, death.

It occurs when consuming contaminated food and can be found in meat, eggs, poultry and milk if unclean or mishandled.
