Peru has suffered a period of drought followed by heavy rain which has caused floods and landslides throughout the country.
The country has not seen rainfall like this since 1998.
In a generous move, the UAE Government has offered to help those affected by recent events in Peru.
Over 150,000 people have been displaced and more than 200,000 homes have been damaged by the floods which wrecked havoc on the country in March this year. Many people have also died.
UAE Ambassador to Peru, Mohammed Yusouf Al Awadi, announced the support at a ceremony in Lima, attended by Peruvian officials including Nestor Francisco Popolizio, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru.
The Vice Minister thanked the UAE for its assistance, pointing out its great importance due to the size of losses suffered by the country, and praising the strong bilateral relations that bring together the two friendly countries.
