Hackers Used A Dubai Resident’s UberEATS Account To Buy $300 Of Fried Chicken And Alcohol

Avatar

Imagine knowing how to hack an online account, but using that knowledge to purchase $300 worth of chicken and alcohol…

That’s exactly what hackers in South London are up to. The UberEATS account of Dubai resident Yasmin di Mario (she was in Australia at the time) was hacked. After noticing some unusual activity she checked her account and found a list of purchases amounting to $300 had been made. The woman, who is a vegetarian and doesn’t drink, was shocked.

The hackers made various purchases and used a separate address to their home address for delivery to avoid detection.

Uber reimbursed the account

UberEATS, the online meal and delivery platform connected to Uber said in a statement to Khaleej Times that they will always refund accounts in similar situations to this one.
