King Salman Opens A New Terminal At King Abdulaziz International Airport✈️

Following the successful national day festivities across the kingdom’s cities, the kingdom’s ambitious vision continues its success with the opening of King Abdulaziz International Airport Terminal 1. King Salman, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, officially opened the new terminal along with the minister of transport, and many other ministers yesterday in Jeddah

Terminal 1 of King Abdulaziz International Airport, considered one of the largest airports in the region, with a total area of 810 sq. meters and a capacity to welcome 30 million passengers annually in its first phase

During the opening ceremony, King Salman took a tour of the new terminal and watched a visual presentation of the airport ‘s prominent features

Before the launch of the Airport , the audience watched a presentation on civil aviation in addition to a presentation on“The World’s New Destination”, then the minister of transport Nabil Al-Amoudi gave a speech stating that the Kingdom’s civil aviation sector has recently achieved substantial leaps and successive developments that contributed to 4.6% of GDP as per International Air Transport Association (IATA) indicators

He said that number of passengers  who pass through the kingdom’s airports has increased from 47 million passengers in 2010 to 74 million passengers in 2014 and has reached approximately 100 million passengers in 2018

He pointed out that a number of Saudi young men and women contributed to complete the first phase of this huge project from its design and planning to its construction, supervision, and operation

He continued to say that, in addition to the launch of the new airport in Jeddah, we are honored to inaugurate another vital achievement “the Haramain high-speed train station, which was built at King Abdulaziz International Airport”. The train station was built as an extension of the Kingdom’s major projects to serve the pilgrims, citizens, and residents, and to confirm the kingdom’s efforts to build a logistical platform linking the three continents of the world

Dr. Nabil Al-Amoudi explained that approximately 70% of pilgrims travel through the new King Abdulaziz International Airport, as it is capable of meeting the service of the kingdom’s guests. It contributes in welcoming 30 million pilgrims annually, to achieve the Ambitious Saudi Vision 2030 with the cooperation of the Saudi people and their governments
