News reports about women receiving their driver’s licenses in Riyadh circulated the online sphere, but did you know that 67 women in Damman have also already gotten their license?

Yep, in a report by Saudi Gazette, those 67 women who obtained their licenses from Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University Driving School got their via transferring their international ones.

But also…

So far, approximately 13,000 women have registered to train at the school

The large number of registered trainees shows just how eager our strong women are in finally taking on the road. The training takes place in an enclosed course at the school and outside of it but within the university’s campus in Al-Rakah.

The training program at the university includes five hours of theoretical studies, two hours of traffic safety and security run-through and 20 hours of on-hand training.

The process of obtaining license has six steps

  • Registration (on the school’d website)
  • Registration for the program itself
  • Taking the theoretical training
  • Practical training
  • Final test to take with the Traffic Department
