COVID-19: Saudi Could Suspend Taraweeh Prayers In Ramadan

Taraweeh prayers may be suspended in mosques across The Kingdom as authorities continue to roll out strict measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs announced on Sunday via Al Riyadh newspaper, that if the situation remains the same, prayers should be performed in the home. The decision was taken with the public’s health in mind.

“Suspension of the five daily prayers at mosques is more important than the suspension of Taraweeh prayers. We ask the Almighty Allah to accept Taraweeh prayers, whether we perform them at mosques or at out homes.”

Prayers have been suspended as the 24-hour curfew has been extended

The report also added that prayers for the dead should be kept to a minimum of 5 or 6 people and that these prayers can also be performed at home.
