There Will Be No Public Holiday This Week But Eid LOOKS Like It Could Be A Long One

Avatar

Yesterday, residents received confirmation there would be no public or private sector holidays for Isra and Mi’raj this year.

The change is in line with a holiday alignment between the two sectors, announced by the government in early March.

It’s not all bad news, however, as the announcements made by the UAE Government Twitter account DO mean the private sector will, in fact, have more holidays this year.

Beginning with Eid, when depending on the moon-sighting, residents COULD get up to five days holiday.

The holidays for 2019 and 2020 were confirmed in March

Overall, the private sector has two extra holiday days this year

It looks like Isra and Mi’raj the Prophet’s birthday holiday PBUH will not be marked with a holiday, however the move streamlines the granted number of holidays for each sector to a total of 14 days each per year. (This jumps from the 12 public holidays which were granted for the private sector in 2018).
