The Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was recently in attendance at the world’s biggest thoroughbred auction in Lexington, Kentucky, USA.
As per a Bloomberg report, UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister was spotted at the renowned auction after almost a decade.
They don’t call him the king of the racehorse market for no reason.
The Ruler of Dubai has been an avid equestrian from the days when he rode bareback races with his friends on the sands of Jumeirah Beach. He has been a part of many an international racing ever since, going so far as to launch a thoroughbred breeding operation and horse racing team called Godolphin as an expression of his life long passion.
By spending AED69 million ($19 million), he has invested in 22 yearling thoroughbreds, making him the biggest buyer at the auction.
HH Sheikh Mohammed’s brother, HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum was the second highest buyer spending close to $12.3 million (AED45 million) on 19 horses.
