They made it!

The ladies of the online community group, Surviving Hijab, have successfully reached the Everest Base Camp– proving to the world just how tolerant and equal all Arab women are to their male counterparts.

Defying stereotypes has been another motivation for Manal Rostom, the founder of Surviving Hijab who has kept the public up-to-date on the journey.

Manal and thirteen other women from 11 different countries worked together to spread the message of inclusivity, tolerance and equality for all.

If this doesn’t inspire you, I don’t know what will

The team started off by heading to Lukla from Nepal’s capital Kathmandu

…to get to the starting point of Everest’s Base Camp.

The first day of the trekking began with high spirits and lots of love

‘We are trying to create change, one hijabi girl at a a time’

On their third day in Nepal, the ladies made it to Namche Bazaar- at 3450m high!

The higher they go, the higher the altitude

On their sixth day, the ladies of Surviving Hijab had already reached Lobuche Village that’s at an altitude of 4925m.

And on the 9th day, they finally made it!

You can hear the sound of pride in their voices after announcing it.

Women from different parts of the world took part to help spread this AMAZING message

Initiatives like this will help inspire and motivate more and more women in the region to take part, start their own and be part of the community.
