Dubai Police Are Offering To Keep An Eye On Your House For Free While You’re On Holiday

Dubai Police are urging residents to sign up for a free service that means the police will keep an eye on your home while you’re travelling.

The Home Security Service will see police patrol empty houses throughout the summer, helping reduce the likelihood of break-ins and crimes.

Colonel Rashid Abdulrahman Al Falasi from the General Department of Criminal Investigation of Dubai urged home owners to register for the free service, that was launched in 2001, to guarantee the the safety and protection of homes.

“We chose to remind people about this service now, because it’s almost summer time and many people travel and leave their homes empty, leaving them an easy target for thieves.”

Jamal Al Jallaf, Deputy Director of Dubai Police’s Criminal Investigation

You can register for the service either through your smart devices, filling out the “Home Security” form at police stations or through their website by clicking here.

Even though they’re willing to offer this handy  service – there are some things they recommend you do as extra precautions.

  1. You must be a resident of the UAE who lives in a home or villa.
  2. You must secure all entrances and windows of your home.
  3. You must secure wardrobes and safes which contain personal items.
  4. Deposit all money and valuables in a bank.
  5. Not leave keys to your vehicles in a key holder (I mean thats the first place a thief would look for them!)
  6. Inform a friend or relative to occasionally check your household while you are away.
  7. Turn off all water taps and electricity switches.
  8. Submit the details of your residence at a police station nearby, and the rest will be on them
