Flights from Hong Kong to the UAE were ‘significantly delayed’ on Monday after Hong Kong Airport was closed due to ongoing anti-government protests.

Both Emirates and Etihad released statements confirming the delay

A notice on Emirates’ website said flight EK384 had been cancelled due to public protest and the closure of Hong Kong Airport. Passengers were asked to contact their booking offices for further information.

Etihad Airways also released a statement confirming that there would be a significant delay in flights to Hong Kong due to the cancellation of all departing flights on Monday from Hong Kong International Airport.

Although some flights have been resumed on Tuesday, protests are still ongoing

The airport, which is one of the world’s busiest, has been the site of protests for five consecutive days.
