This week the region’s biggest influencers descended on the annual Arab Social Media Influencers Summit in Dubai World Trade Centre.

The who’s who of social media stars, TV and fitness personalities and UAE, Bahrani and Jordanian royalty attended the event which included talks, interviews and concluded with an awards attended by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

One of the highest attended talks on the day was the keynote speech from Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, who was also honoured with the Influential Personality of the Year Award.

In her passionate speech HM encouraged the audience to seek and share the truth

Queen Rania used her keynote speech to speak directly to the influencers in the room

On her own social platforms, her bio reads, ‘A mum and a wife with a really cool day job’ but follow her account and you’ll see the incredible amount of time she gives to philanthropic efforts.

On Monday, she used her platform to encourage the high-profile audience, the biggest influencers in the region, the champion the truth through their own platforms, to ‘impact people and rally support for those who need it most’ and communicate through values.

“Distinguished guests, I know that none of this is new to you, because our human values are constant. But in our fast-paced world and with the overwhelming notifications and updates, we may lose focus and allow our compass to deviate slightly, causing us to lose sight of the path we’ve drawn for ourselves. So I come to you…the influencers…the people whose voices are heard, to urge you to use your time to break barriers and open communication channels… to impact people and rally support for those who need it most…to champion the truth and communicate through values. And, just as importantly, to be kind to others, because the simplest expression of our humanity is a kind word”

Truth is more accessible today, but less appealing to circulate – we as humans bear responsibility, ‘not all that glitters is gold’

“Online, the plain truth is not appealing enough to be circulated and liked or to command power in the virtual world, despite the fact that it has never been more accessible than today. The truth is losing ground to emotional rhetoric and sensational rumors. So do we blame these technologies and exonerate ourselves – as users and influencers? Do we turn a blind eye to the fact that behind every post, share, and like, there is a human being who bears responsibility? We owe it to the truth to seek it out and share it. It might not be the most appealing or fascinating, but not all that glitters is gold. Let’s make sure that the truth has the final word”
