59 Establishments Were Found In Violation Of The Mandatory Midday Break Scheme

Since summers in the UAE can reach extremely high temperatures, the UAE implements a mandatory midday break for those who primarily work outdoors. The midday break scheme has been put into effect for years from June 15 – September 15 when the weather gets quite hot.

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has carried out more than 67,000 inspection visits from June 15 – August 17 and found 59 violations

A total of 130 workers were affected by the breach

Violators may face fines of AED5,000 per worker! “We recognise the remarkable level of compliance shown by the majority of private sector establishments and encourage them to continue their commitment to the Midday Break from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm, between 15 June to 15 September,” MOHRE stated.

Residents and workers may report any midday break violations by contacted MOHRE through their website or app or by calling 600590000.
