A Dubai couple was rescued after being stranded at sea off the coast of Yemen, making their plan of crossing the Indian ocean to the United Arab Emirates come to an end. The couple endured a 22-hour towing operation amid treacherous stormy conditions before finally reaching safely on an island.
During a 22-hour rescue operation, the boat endured rough conditions while being towed from the Indian Ocean to Socotra.
The boat named Freya, along with its four crew members, lost their ability to steer and was adrift on their way from Kenya to Dubai. Luckily, they were later rescued by Yemeni fishermen on a traditional wooden dhow and towed 50 miles to Socotra on July 28.

They skillfully fixed rigging, plumbing, and the engine, while also climbing masts and managing limited provisions, showcasing their remarkable seamanship and ingenuity.
The plan was to cross the Indian Ocean along the Somali coast, a strip brief in Socotra, then up the Oman coast into the UAE.

Dacey has been actively documenting the trip and posting it on his socials, sharing that he stumbled upon Freya while browsing on Facebook, putting up fun videos of the crew having a blast during the journey, till the day of the unfortunate incident that interrupted their journey.
Thankfully, the couple is now safe on the island!
