The Beirut Marathon Was Postponed So One Dubai Resident Ran The Full Distance Along Jumeirah Instead

Talk about persistence.

After finding out that the highly-anticipated Beirut Marathon had been postponed, Dubai resident and athlete Maya Bash, who had initially planned to take on her first challenge to take part in her first marathon- found that she no longer could. The protests in Lebanon was what had caused the cancellation of the marathon, but this did not stop Bash, who decided to do a marathon on her own- in Dubai.

Much to her surprise, many came to join and show support- proving once again just how tight-knit the community of Dubai is.

The marathon Maya was supposed to join on November 10 was postponed due to protests in Beirut

Maya took on Kite Beach with her very own marathon on Saturday

The marathon, scheduled for 4.30am on Saturday, November 9 had a great turn-out, from people who were inspired and empowered by Maya’s choice to continue her goal of taking part in a marathon, regardless where it took place.

What a great way to stick to your goals and take part in the 30×30 Dubai Fitness challenge- at the same time!

Maya was thrilled by level of support the community showed

“I am still speechless from all the support and all what you did today!  We have the best triathlon team ever! The best support crew! The best coaches! This was a dream! Beyond lucky and so grateful! Other teams and gyms should be all so jealous today! Thank you thank you.”
