A short clip of his Dubai trip, which sees OG YouTuber David Dobrik dune-buggying, free-wheeling in the desert and viewing the whopping Dubai Police fleet has nabbed 7 million views

While racking up millions of views for his Dubai clips, Dobrik admits her favourite moment during his Dubai shoot was learning about Islam

And in Dubai, one of my favorite moments other than side wheeling, which was absolutely amazing, was learning about Islam and I don’t mean that in like a cheesy way, but I do truly take that – we don’t really get taught much about Islam here or at least I didn’t.  So just being able to sit down with some people there and to learn about it for a couple hours was really insightful.  So I enjoyed that a lot.

“Yeah. When I landed in Dubai, I remember we landed at the airport and it’s not like landing at a regular airport.  It’s like, you landed on a different planet. “

His first impressions of Dubai had a lasting impression.

Like it truly is a different world.  I can’t explain it, but it’s like – every country, you still don’t get a good feeling for the country at the airport, but when you land in Dubai, you can just feel that you’re in a different place.  The ceilings are like 80 feet tall, 100 feet tall.  I don’t know what’s going on there.  It feels like you’ve like entered like Mars.

“It literally just feels like a bunch of people were just like, how do we design the coolest and craziest architecture and buildings and how do we have the most fun and utilize all the space we have here in the Middle East.”

And then just the architecture, it’s absolutely insane.  And I got some skydives and I got to jump right over.  It was like those group of islands that you have the manmade islands that are shaped like the world and I just got to see all of the buildings and all of the crazy designs from the sky.  And the best way to describe it is it felt like I was jumping into a virtual reality game where everything was created yesterday.  Everything feels like it’s brand new and it’s so like beyond imagination.

It literally just feels like a bunch of people were just like, how do we design the coolest and craziest architecture and buildings and how do we have the most fun and utilize all the space we have here in the middle east.  So yeah, it definitely – everybody that’s ever gone to Dubai is like it’s mind-blowing and it’s definitely that.  It’s definitely a mind-blowing place and it’s definitely unlike anywhere else.

While visiting his home town in Slovakia was one of his top moments of the entire series

Yeah. One of my favorite moments was when I got surprise all my relatives in Slovakia.  That was amazing because none of them knew I was coming.  None of them knew that I was even able to travel yet.  So it was a big surprise when I knocked on the door, and I got to visit my grandpa before he passed away.  So my parents were thrilled about that.  My dad was so happy that I got to see him one last time.

+ The act was travelling was an important life lesson for the star

I don’t know, I think I’m honestly still kind of learning about that.  I think I’m so focused on like work when I’m out here that when I think in another country, I’m realizing that there’s a lot more to life than just constantly working and that’s something that my work life, I feel like is always being challenged by just my pursuit of regular happiness.  So I think every time I visit a country I push back a little bit on work and I go, ah, maybe like I should just hang out more and like sit by the beach with these people and just like have a cookout with this family that’s having one.  I don’t know.  I think there’s a lot more casual ways to living life and I think that’s what I’m figuring out that I actually do enjoy a lot.

Dobrik say multiple cultures with fresh eyes, here’s what he learned

Yeah.  I think it’s crazy how different and similar every culture is.  I think that’s what I’m finding to be most interesting is like everywhere I go, it’s definitely a new place and you could feel that you’re in a new place.  But everybody’s really similar at the end of the day.  Like every human being kind of has the same goals and ambitions in the same way they love to love and they love to laugh.  So I think that’s interesting.  I think it’s interesting to learn out different cultures and what makes people laugh and what gets people excited.  And like Dubai, especially like that place loves to have fun, like loves to have fun.  There’s so many different things to do there.  And it’s crazy because you can be driving around in the sand or you can be doing the most futuristic thing in the world in Dubai.  So every culture and place is so different for that reason.

Discovering David Dobrik is now available in discovery+ via STARZPLAY and Jawwy TV. His episodes in Dubai and Europe are now streamable, while his episode in Africa will be available by the end of February.
