Dubai Remembers Diego Maradona – RIP To An Icon
Footballing legend Diego Maradona passed away yesterday.
The retired footballer died of a heart attack, caused by health complications, at the young age of 60 in Buenos Aires. Considered by many as the greatest footballer of all time, three days of mourning have been declared by the Argentinian president and tributes are flooding in.
One of the most lauded football careers of all time, his life was also marred by addiction and resulting health problems, however, he continued to represent the game around the world and spent brief stints here in the UAE, coaching Dubai’s Al Wasl in the UAE Pro-League in 20211-2012, and in 2017 he returned to coach Fujairah until the end of that season.

ARN Sports Broadcaster Chris McHardy shared fond memories of the icon
Shocked and saddened by news of Diego Maradona’s death. I’ll forever cherish the memories the most surreal afternoon I’ve had in my life ‘round Diego’s gaffe’. ‘Grande, grande’ he’d call me. Was once a ‘team-mate’ as well. What an icon. #maradona pic.twitter.com/HN02Ve6gPv
