Dubai Announces Road Closures On December 31 For New Years Celebrations
New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and the people of the UAE are excited to start the celebrations. Just like every year, Dubai set up a plan to ensure everyone’s safety and reduce traffic congestion. So, if you’re planning to celebrate in Dubai, then keep these in mind:
All roads leading to the Burj Khalifa will be closed on the evening of December 31
From 4pm, these roads will gradually close: Al Asayel Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Burj Khalifa Street, Financial Centre Street (lower deck), and Al Mustaqbal Street.
Al Sukook Street will close from 8pm and Financial Centre Street (upper deck) from 9pm.

Dubai Metro and Tram
Dubai Metro will operate from 8am on December 31 until 12am on January 1. Dubai Tram will operate from 9am on December 31 until 1am on January 2.
Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station will close from 5pm or when the station exceeds capacity.
Other metro stations to use:
- Business Bay
- Financial CentreEmirates Towers
- World Trade Centre
Make sure your NOL card balance is AED15 for a round-trip
Dubai’s water canal lifts and pedestrian bridges will be closed.
Parking
Alternative parking is available at
- Al Wasl Club
- Al Jafiliya Parking
There, RTA buses will provide free transportation.
If you’ll be driving, arrive early and park at Emaar district (capacity 20,000) at Dubai Mall, Zaabel, Fountain View and Boulevard lower parking spots.
Parking on Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road is prohibited (in both directions).
Parking spots will be available at:
- Centrepoint
- Etisalat by e&
- Jebel Ali
- Jumeirah Golf Estates
RTA buses and taxis
RTA public buses will be available for free to drop passengers off at metro stations, Dubai taxi parking, and the alternative parkings.
Dubai taxi pick-up locations can be found at Al Wasl Club and Al Jafiliya parking.
