Dubai takes a stride towards truck drivers’ safety with the construction of 19 rest stops, ensuring a secure and comfortable journey on the roads. These new facilities aim to prioritize the well-being of the hardworking truck drivers and provide essential support along their routes. Dubai’s got your back, truckers!

The rest stops will include dedicated services for heavy vehicle drivers’ welfare

Moreover, these rest stops will incorporate diesel-refuelling stations, motels, maintenance workshops, restaurants, prayer rooms, clinics, pharmacies, laundry centers, and more dedicated services catering to the welfare of heavy vehicle drivers.

The three Integrated Truck Lay-bys will cover a total combined area of over 226,000 square meters and have a capacity to accommodate 120 to 200 trucks and heavy vehicles

1) Almutakamela Vehicle Testing and Registration will oversee a lay-by situated near Jebel Ali Free Zone and Al Maktoum International Airport on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Covering an area of 100,000 square meters, it will also have the capacity to accommodate up to 200 lorries.

2) Adnoc will manage the second lay-by, located adjacent to the Al Tayy Racetrack near Emirates Road. Covering an area of 76,000 square meters, it will have the capacity to accommodate 150 lorries.

3) The third lay-by, also under the management of Almutakamela, will be constructed near the entrance to Dubai Industrial City. It will occupy an area of 51,000 square meters and have the capacity to accommodate approximately 120 lorries.

The RTA will also establish 16 OTHER stops across Dubai in key locations.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, RTA, said,

The construction of trucks rest stops and lay-bys contributes significantly to improving traffic safety, reducing truck related accidents by up to 50 per cent, streamlining the traffic flow during truck ban times, increasing traffic awareness of truck drivers about traffic rules, and resolving the problem of parking trucks on main roads and residential areas.

Truckers in Dubai are in for a treat with 19 new rest stops on the horizon, ensuring their safety and comfort on the road. With these upgrades, Dubai is taking a big step forward in supporting its hardworking truck drivers!
