GITEX GLOBAL shines a spotlight on future tech and this year, the tech that’s grabbing the limelight? Flying cars.

XPENG AEROHT unveiled its electric flying car at Gitex, a low-altitude air mobility explorer that’s dubbed the ‘world’s safest intelligent electric flying car’. It’s fuel efficient, can reach speeds of up to 130  km/h and can hold a 560kg flight weight for a total of 35 minutes.

XPENG AEROHT is the largest flying car company in Asia and it’s one of the hundreds of flying car companies with major investments in the industry. Established in 2013, the company has accumulated 15,000 safe manned flights. It has won multiple industrial design awards and raised over US$500 million for its Series A capital funding on October 19, 2021.

A flying car will cost the same as a luxury car

Dr Brian Gu, vice-chairman and president of XPeng said that first and foremost the company is ensuring the capability of the aircraft followed by its safety and customer compliance. Once these are a reality, it will be a high-ticket item with Gu estimating the price of the flying cars will be ‘in line with luxury cars such as Ferrari, Rolls-Royce and Bentley.’ according to the Khaleej Times.

The XPENG X2 completed its first global public flight in Dubai

The public flight took place at Skydive Dubai and was attended by 150 guests. It was followed a keynote introduction to the X2 and the Future of Mobility by Vice Chairman and President of XPENG, Brian Gu, on the opening day of GITEX at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

XPENG X2’s public display in Dubai represents a significant milestone for XPENG AEROHT and the international achievement of flying cars. Dubai is a world-renowned ‘City of Innovation’, which is the reason we decided to hold the X2 first public flight event here. Today’s flight is a major step in XPENG’s exploration of future mobility.
