The UAE Food Bank Helped Over 18 Million People Last Year!

In 2023, UAE food bank positively impacted 18.6 million lives globally through food distribution, waste reduction, and 105 awareness programs with 800 donors

The UAE Food Bank, part of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, disclosed its 2023 outcomes, showcasing impactful programs that benefitted over 18.6 million individuals globally. Established to distribute surplus food and reduce waste, the Food Bank garnered support from 800 donors, including local and international charities.

In the same year, it organized 105 awareness programs, engaging nearly 9,843 participants and 1,800 volunteers.

Additionally, the annual results highlighted the receipt of approximately AED14.7 million in funds and a noteworthy environmental impact, diverting 6,000 tonnes of food from landfills. Aligned with its goal of achieving a 30% reduction in food waste by 2027, these efforts contributed to reducing environmental pollution and emissions associated with food waste.

Dawoud Al Hajri, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Food Bank, emphasized that the 2023 results reflect the guidance and oversight of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees.

The Bank’s mission, in alignment with a long-term plan, is to efficiently manage surplus food, reduce waste, and provide high-quality food to beneficiaries worldwide, ensuring sustainability. Positioned as a globally recognized food bank, the UAE Food Bank operates under a robust and sustainable framework, supporting the UAE’s goal to lead the Global Food Security Index by 2051, as outlined in the National Food Security Strategy 2051.
