A Twitter user shared a video that went absolutely viral! The video shows an RTA bus parked at the stop, passengers are outside and the driver is inside praying.
Lovin Dubai shared the video and it racked up over 700,000 views.
The debate over the actions of the driver was so heated about whether he had the right to pray while passengers wait or whether it should have been done outside of working hours. Someone commented saying “I don’t think this is the right way for worship making people stand outside on a sunny day, especially in Dubai… not good.” Someone else had a different opinion saying “Let the man pray! Inside or outside of working hours. I really do hope this man wasn’t reprimanded also.”

RTA first left a comment saying an investigation will be taking place. After some time, they revealed the findings from their investigation.
Greetings, kindly note that we continuously strive to maintain our service quality, and any kind of behavior from the driver outside his scope of work is subjected to a thorough investigation. We would like to clarify that after investigation, the bus was outside of operational hours during this time. As per RTA rules and regulations, nobody is allowed to enter the bus before or after the scheduled trip time in order to ensure a safe environment for both the driver and the passengers. Thanks for your understanding.
RTA commented.
So, because the bus was outside of operational hours, the bus driver could not let passengers on board and hence he was in his right to take this time to pray.
