The Holy Month of Ramadan is known to be the month of giving. From individuals giving away zakat to huge businesses organising charitable events to help the needy, it seems like everybody is feeling the Ramadan spirit of generosity.

Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) is hosting several charitable initiatives during Ramadan from freebies to distributing Iftars

The 3 initiatives are aimed to support drivers, orphans, low-income families and more

RTA is hosting several community initiatives that are run incorporation with the First Abu Dhabi Bank, and KEOLIS-MHI company. The initiatives target a wide community such as bus drivers, workers, delivery bike drivers and truck drivers, orphans and low-income families.

Meals-on-wheels

This initiative will provide 30,000 meals during the Holy Month which is about 1,000 per day. This targets bus drivers, workers, delivery bike drivers, and truck drivers. Partners include First Abu Dhabi Bank, ENOC, Continental Tires, Beit Al Khair Society, Red Crescent, and Dar Al Ber Society. RTA will also be providing 17,500 Iftar meals and a special bus will be deployed to distribute the meals.

Nol cards

‘Ramadan Rations’, held in conjunction with Zayed Humanitarian Day, will distribute nol cards to low-income families for FREE. They can be used for shopping at major retail stores which will greatly benefit families during Ramadan.

Fresh bread

The third initiative “Sabil Bread” aims to provide free fresh bread to needy families and workers through smart devices provided in 10 districts in Dubai. The smart devices will produce the fresh bread with a single touch. RTA’s role is to look after the device at Al Quoz through its Charity Purse.
