Meet The Dubai Student Who’s Raising Funds For Stray Animals

Meet Romilly, a student with a heart of gold and a passion for making the world a better place. Proving how one person can create real impact, her compassion for animals is truly inspiring as she goes above and beyond to raise funds for our furry friends.

Romilly is a 10-year-old who loves animals, so much so, that she ‘literally weeps when she sees a stray’ according to her mom, Aisling. Deciding to take action, Romilly arranged a club in her school, with a mission to support stray animals in the UAE.

She gathered a group of like-minded young heroes and together they set about raising money. They sold cakes, brownies, and lemonade, and this weekend they’ve even got homemade dog biscuits on sale in a local cafe which has jumped in to support her cause. To date, Romilly and her friends have raised AED1500 which they donate to various shelters.

This isn’t just a one-woman show, Romilly joined The Lovin Dubai Show to highlight the many ways you can help

If people want to support, they can either get in touch with school or me or K9 Friends with ideas on how they’d like to help.  K9 Friends have sponsorship packages which people can buy to support the dogs there.

If people want to buy Romilly’s dog biscuits, they could speak to their local doggy daycare facility and ask if they’d stock the biscuits.  At the moment, three doggy daycare facilities are stocking them (Aria and Bianca, Pawsome Friends and Barking Lot).  She sells bags of 8-10 biscuits for 25aed/bag.

Romilly wants people to remember that animals don’t have a voice, so we have a responsibility to speak for them.

She says that mall efforts make a big difference – leaving water or food out for strays in your area, supporting your local rescue organizations by dog walking or other ways, and sending love to a stray when you walk past.
