This Dubai-Based Teacher Shares How Brave It Is To Become An “Immigrant”
Moving abroad may not be for everyone. It’s such a big risk because you’re ultimately leaving behind everyone and everything you know. It’s scary to start over somewhere new but sometimes the rewards are far greater than the risks.
The majority of Dubai’s population is made up of ‘expats’ or ‘immigrants’ which is the same thing. They are people that decided to live and work in a country that is not their home country. Many people decided to move to Dubai for work and for that fresh start and lavish lifestyle.
This Dubai-based teacher summed up exactly how it feels to become an “immigrant” in a video
He shared the video and went into a bit more depth about the experience in the caption. Mr Thomas Blakemore was struggling with depression and felt like he wasn’t finding his purpose. So he booked a one-way ticket to Dubai and initially decided to stay for 2 years.
5 years later, Mr Blakemore is still a Dubai resident and says his life has “transformed” for the better

Thankfully, Dubai was able to grant him and thousands of other people the life they desired. Mr Blakemore was able to travel to more than 15 countries, lived in a range of dream apartments, saved some cash, and met his fiancée.
He explained that the UAE was the light at the end of the tunnel and he hasn’t “looked back” since!
Moving to a country you’ve never visited or lived in before can be extremely daunting. However, it may turn out to be the best decision you’ve ever made.
