Another day, another attempt to scam some poor, unsuspecting individuals as a new online scam is currently making its way around social media.
The latest online scam offers individuals the chance to win two free tickets with Emirates airline, once they complete a ‘short survey’.
Those who click on the link are invited to complete a survey and instructed to share the link with others in order to claim their free tickets.
Of course, there are no free tickets and the user is redirected to a fake site, which is not affiliated with any official Emirates website or social media.
Once the fraudulent link is followed by an individual they are brought to a ‘phishing site’ which may look like an authentic site but is used to collect personal and sensitive data from the person’s device, such as credit card information, usernames and passwords.
If you are unsure whether it is an official message from the airline you should contact Emirates before proceeding with any activity.
“Emirates has become aware of fraudulent websites purporting to offer free airline tickets to those who take an online survey. We advise anyone not to click on any links or share these links on social media. Emirates is investigating the source of the scam and will take appropriate legal action against the perpetrators.”
