Earlier this year, The Victorian opened its doors in Dubai. The restaurant is the pinnacle of British cuisine with an elegant flair in an intimate fashion that’s not hidden behind a load of bells and whistles. The Victorian is understated but there’s rather a lot to sing and dance about. Located on City Walk, the eaterie meets time travelling portal ensures you’re transported to somewhere far more English countryside chic than the desert’s city centre.
The food is actually divine, and it doesn’t just look good – it’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s not exactly ‘pub grub’ but more what we’d imagine our more flamboyant ancestors dined on. You know the ones, when you’re watching The Tudors or Game of Thrones and you’re sat staring at their plates rather than listening to what they are saying. #StillNotOverTheRedWedding
The Cornish crab salad not only looks beautiful but is fresh out the ocean and delicious.
We highly recommend the Wagyu rib eye with glazed baby carrot, cheesy mash, Yorkshire pudding and shallot Jus. Hand on heart – the BEST Yorkshires we’ve ever had.
We have to talk about desserts, it’s not easy to find British desserts done right. At The Victorian, however, you’ll find British desserts done better. The orange and lemon Victoria sponge is tangy, moist – eek, and creamy heaven. As something of an Eton mess connoisseur, The Victorian’s Eton mess looked almost too good to eat, but totally worth it if you do.
To put it lightly, we’ve all experienced some difficulties with staff not being completely in the know about the menu. The staff at The Victorian not only recommend dishes based on what you like but they also work with the chef meticulously to know exactly what goes into each dish.
