A Brit Student Who Documented His Dramatic Evacuation From Kabul Has Safely Landed In Dubai
“It says lord in all my bank cards. The Taliban may see that as reason enough to keep me alive.”
With the extremist militant group besieging Afghanistan, many evacuees from Afghan have shared their horrific tales, refugees have cried to the media over the situation back in their homeland and have expressed grave concern for their loved ones. Amidst these stories, one British student has become the talk of the town for documenting his experience of being stuck in Kabul.
Miles Routledge AKA Lord Miles Le-vesconte Routledge took a trip to Afghanistan on August 13 and has since spent his time posting on 4chan, Facebook, and Twitch about his vacation that soon turned into scenes from the movie ‘Green Zone’.
Before things went south, Miles was doting over the South Asian country and even said that “[Afghanistan] seems more peaceful than London to me.”
He posted pictures of himself posing with weapons in desert terrain and enjoying his time before things took a bizarre turn.
Once the militant group took over the country’s capital, Miles was forced to hide in a United Nations safe house in Kabul along with other foreigners including Britons, Americans, and Turks awaiting an opportunity to flee the country
The 21-year-old lad described being stuck in Afghanistan as a ‘bit of a pickle.’

On the way to Kabul International Airport, Miles was stopped by Taliban insurgents and was questioned about his nationality – but was let go because the man whom he spoke to didn’t know where Wales was
As reported by Media, Entertainment, Arts, WorldWide.
Miles also took to Facebook to convey that, “We may be happy I’m fine but please consider the people who live in Afghanistan as they’re doing so much worse. Pray for them please, I will be doing so tonight.”
Around 2pm UAE time on Tuesday, August 17, Miles took to Facebook to assure his family and friends that he had safely landed in Dubai onboard an evacuation flight from Kabul

Footage of evacuation flights from Afghanistan really show the extent to which repatriations are ongoing for diplomats, foreigners and tourists stuck in the country

Audio from the crew estimated that they had ~800 passengers onboard, which would be the second most passengers ever carried on a single airplane. pic.twitter.com/feM9WATUPN

Miles took to his platform to share how he got lucky but “the average Afghani is fearing for their lives”
His message is strong and clear, donate to charities in the area because even a few dollars/pounds/dirhams can “make all the difference for a family”.
