A Lonely Elderly Man Called Ajman Emergency Services Every Day ‘To Talk’
An elderly man ‘who wanted someone to talk to’ called Ajman Police every day for three months to recite his poetry and talk about life.
The man, who is believed to be in his eighties, called the 999 emergency number every day at 12am and police obliged the man by accepting the call in “a very humane and professional way,” according to local reports.
Eventually the police directed the man to use the 901 hotline for non-emergency cases
This was not the only case of people using the 999 emergency number for non-emergency purposes.
Another caller dialled 999 during the Holy Month of Ramadan to ask if it was Maghrib yet; the caller wanted to know if it was time to break fast.
