Yes we all know summer in Dubai is hot, but so hot that vehicles are spontaneously combusting is a new high even for Dubai.
Khaleej Times has reported that seven cars in the last two months have gone up in flames due to the high temperatures recorded in the region.
The first incident happened on Wednesday with the car’s engine going up in flames in the Hadath area of Umm Al Quwain.Â
Reportedly the car was parked with its engine turned off and it’s believed the high temperatures are the reason behind the spontaneous combustion.
Another incident occurred on Thursday as a mini bus travelling from Abu Dhabi to Dubai Media city burst into flames on Sheikh Zayed Road while carrying 27 passengers.
Several caravans also caught fire on Thursday in the Kaber area of Umm Al Quwain. Firefighters were dispatched and able to control the blaze before it spread.Â
Incorrect storage of waste can easily ignite during these times of high temperatures.Â
Firefighters have responded quickly to all incidents and were able to put out the flames before they spread and thankfully no injuries have been reported yet.
Authorities are urging drivers to maintain regular maintenance checks on their vehicles especially during the summer months in order to avoid more accidents.Â
Ensure no flammable materials or liquids are left in your car and check for any oil or fuel leakages.Â
