HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, is asking government departments to make all services paperless within the next two years.

The new initiative thought up by the Crown Prince is being asked in efforts to save a BILLION pieces of paper every year- which he believes is a gradual start, since more can be done. HH Sheikh Hamdan shared his reasons for the initiative in a series of tweets on Monday, where he praised the successes of the Dubai Paperless Strategy and aims to inspire more to do the same.

The drive to go paperless was launched in 2018, which has freed up about 40 hours yearly due to the reduction of the need for people to visit service centres

I have been briefed on Dubai Paperless Strategy’s latest developments. Clear progress has been made in implementing @HHShkMohd’s vision and directives towards an overhaul in the way government entities work, to reach peak efficiency & world-class customer satisfaction levels.

He wants the Dubai government to become 100% paperless by December 12, 2021

I have directed all government entities to provide their consumer services through the ‘DubaiNow’ app, which provides 88 government services and has already facilitated transactions worth AED4 billion. Our aim: the Dubai government to become 100% paperless by December 12, 2021.
