In a city with an absolutely thriving takeout scene, this seems like the next step and one UAE company is hoping to roll out the service in certain areas of Dubai as early as the first quarter of 2018.
Eniverse Technologies, a technology company based in the UAE, is partnering up with Skycart, a US based drone company to make the dream a reality.
The companies are eyeing major delivery companies here, such as Emirates Post, Souq, DHL, Amazon, UPS, Aramex and Alibab Group, saying the drones will have the capability of delivering packages of up to 5kg according to local reports.
The company plans to begin testing with five drones in March next year, and hopes to reach 100 drones by 2022.
The unmanned aerial vehicles would are 30-40% cheaper and more energy efficient than traditional methods.
The companies are awaiting approval from the Dubai government to begin operations, the UAE has strict regulations for drone users and all owners must register their drones before use.
