500 Illegal Workers From The Same Company Have Come Forward To Seek Amnesty

500 workers from the same company have applied for amnesty via the UAE’s visa amnesty programme that’s currently ongoing.

Company management failed to renew the visas of the workers due to financial difficulties, according to the Khaleej Times. The company had racked up over AED500,000 in fines, and thanks to leniency by the UAE government, these fines will be waived.

Some workers will get sent home while others will be issued renewed visas

The company has huge praise for the scheme, which recognises some companies may be in financial difficulty, and allows for people to seek a better life.

It’s an opportunity for anyone who has been residing in the country to legalise their status. In the first two days over 4,000 people turned up to take advantage of the lenient laws, and while some will return to their home countries, job seekers are entitled to a six-month visa to search for a job – if they don’t get one, they’ll be required to leave the UAE after that time.
