COVID-19 cases have been on the rise since mid-December 2021, not only in the UAE but on a global level.
Although the UAE is being lauded for its extensive vaccination drive and managing to keep all COVID mutations at bay, the rapid transmission nature of the Omicron variant has led to a spike in cases even in the safest of all countries.
Currently, Dubai peeps are voicing their thoughts of how they believe that every second person is falling ill with COVID, as active cases in the country have jumped to over 25k as compared to back on November 27, 2021, when active cases only stood at 3,014.

HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces further added, “we all know that COVID-19 comes in waves. Thankfully, this wave is less potent and dangerous.”

“Throughout the pandemic, the United Arab Emirates has been one of the most resilient in the face of changing Covid variants, with the world’s highest vaccination rate and extensive, affordable testing. In fact, the UAE is currently ranked number one in Bloomberg’s id Resilience ranking, which ranks 53 countries on 12 indicators like healthcare quality, virus mortality and reopening travel. Even as the Omicron variant has parts of Europe on lockdown again, the UAE has managed, so far, to stay open to most travellers while keeping infections low.”
