Sondos AlQattan, a Kuwaiti make up artist and social media influencer, posted a video recently criticizing Kuwait’s new labor laws, and it’s become viral since.
In the video, AlQattan is seen speaking on the new labor laws that allow domestic workers to be given one day per week off and can keep their passports to themselves.
Her views left the world in shock and she quickly became a victim of statements she made herself. There were calls for a public apology due to the remarks made by Sondos.
Now, after constant threat from people to boycott products and companies that were sponsoring the influencer, several top brands have cut ties with AlQattan as her views don’t represent those of the concerned brands.
Even after deleting her video and taking down her Instagram account for a while, the issue has escalated to such an extent that Sondos AQattan has posted somewhat of a justification to her comment.

She’s actually saying that even though you don’t agree with her, she’s still right. According to her, and possibly shared by a few others, imprisoning househelp is okay because they might “run away.” #Moderndayslavery #sondosalqattan https://t.co/dSBhFd2Lmb

وشنو يضمن حقي ككفيل للخادمة لما تأخذ جوازها ومنو يضمن لي خروجها بالويكند انها ترجع مثل ماطلعت من عندي ومنو يضمن حقي حين ينسب لي شئ ماسويته
